Thanks...It's not offensive by BlackWolfGrimm Thanks...It's not offensive by BlackWolfGrimm
Wow...almost said 'thank you' to someone who didn't want such a thing, oh my;p Almost did it out of spite. Just find it funny they faved this stamp. Oh the irony...XD
*End edit*

Have you ever come across this...?

Someone favs your art. And being the polite and considerate person you are you send them a thank you notice, only for them to come back at you with a 'don't thank me!' ? Or run onto someone's gallery where they clearly say 'do not thank for for faving your art' ? Am I the only one who sees that there's kinda something wrong with that? I mean, I can understand if all you get in your message box are thank you replies, but when did it become so taboo that thanking someone for faving a piece of artwork of yours is so wrong? It's common courtesy to say thank you. Granted I haven't come across anyone that was hostile toward me just for thanking them, but still. It just doesn't seem right to me...

Anyway yea, 'nother stamp today. Must be stamp day or something. I don't have my tablet hooked up and I don't really feel like doing any digital work.

Any of my stamps are free to use by the way.

I'd say there are two possible types of this whole "don't thank me" thing.
If somebody replies to "thank you" comments with complaining/taking offence or writes rants in their journal about stupid people who keep thanking them, that's definitely wrong. Saying "thank you" is obviously well-intentioned, many people find it obvious that they should thank a person who did something nice for them, like faving their art, and even if you write on your userpage that you don't want people to thank you, you can't expect everyone who stumbled upon your art to check your page and see it.
However, if the person simply prefers not to be thanked for stuff, and mentiones it (in a calm and neutral manner) on their page or something, I don't see anything wrong with it at all. While thanking people is polite, people will often see no need to be thanked for something, and in such situations it might do a person more bad than good. Personally, I don't get angry or anything when people thank me for favs, I do find it nice in a way and I never tell people not to thank me or anything, but generally, I actually prefer if they don't do it and if it happened to me more often (without a corresponding rise in people commenting on my art and stuff) it might get annoying. You see, I'm not popular, I don't get many comments, so whenever I see that I got some I get rather excited. Then, when I check my watch and see that these few comments I got are just the "thanks for the fav!" ones, which I don't really care about, it's quite... disappointing. In such situation, I'd rather get no comments in the first place. Realising I feel this way is the reason I stopped thanking others for favs; I used to think it was just a polite thing to do, but now I consider not thanking to be the safest option.
...damn, that was one long comment >.>

Why would 'Thank you' be anywhere offensive? It's just showing appreciation! :?
Sure, the whole 'thanks for the fave' thing gets repetitive to some people, but even still, it's nice to show appreciation on many things! :)
Yeah... I'm just saying my reaction to this. Great stamp! :D

Yea, I say thanks to be polite. It does get repetitive, but it's the thought that counts!=D

I'm surprised someone would take it offensive when someone thanks them for something they did to show appreciation. How bizarre.

I've noticed a few people around here that do that. I'm also thinking the ones that say "don't mention it" might as well be in the same group as them.

When I see that someone has faved something I made, especially when its a drawing or story I worked so hard on, I am genuinely grateful that they like it. While I may not always thank people I thank most of them because to me a fave is another boost of self confidence to me.

about when someone reply "don't mention it", perhaps that can be true unless someone adds a smile with it, no? ^^;

If they add an emote or a smiley face then yeah it'd seem genuine

Well, one thing is "you don't have to thank me, I don't mind if you don't", and another thing is "I'll get butthurt if you do". :P (To me it's the same as "I'll get butthurt if you don't".) Honestly, I rarely come across the latter.
And I don't mind people not thanking me, I often don't have time to do it myself, since I'm not that much on here. But it's nice if people thank me too. ;)
